How Much Does a Home Battery Cost in Queensland in 2026?
A home battery price can look straightforward in an ad. The amount you actually pay depends on the battery, your existing solar system and the work needed at your property.
If you’re comparing quotes in Queensland, ask for the complete installed price after any eligible government discount. That gives you a number you can actually make a decision on.
A useful starting point for prices
In its June 2026 electricity market report, the ACCC published these estimates for commonly installed battery sizes:
A 13 kWh battery system: $6,500 to $9,700
A 19 kWh battery system: $13,600 to $15,800
These were estimates as at May 2026, including GST, before government discounts and installation costs. They are not Battery Match QLD prices or quotes for your home. You can read the figures in the ACCC report.
What can change the installed price?
The final quote may be affected by:
Battery brand, usable capacity and warranty
Whether your current solar inverter can remain
Switchboard or other electrical work
Whether you want backup power during a blackout
Where the battery can safely be installed
Any changes needed to your existing solar system
The government discount the proposed installation qualifies for
Two quotes for a similar sized battery may cover different work. Check the written scope before comparing the totals.
Ask for the full price in writing
A useful quote should show the battery and inverter models, usable battery capacity, installation work, any backup setup, the discount applied and the final amount payable.
Ask what could cost extra after a site assessment. If a quote mentions blackout protection, find out which circuits it covers. If it includes a government discount, ask when you receive it and whether the amount could change before installation.
Is a bigger battery better value?
Only if your household can make good use of it. Your solar generation, evening power use and goals should help determine the size. A larger battery can cost more without delivering enough extra benefit for your home.
Battery Match QLD can help you start with those questions. Tell us about your property and existing solar, and where we have partner coverage, we can introduce you to an installer who can assess the job and give you a formal quote.
Battery Match QLD is an installer introduction service. It is free for homeowners. Participating installers pay referral fees and are responsible for technical advice, system design, pricing and installation.
