How to Compare Home Battery Quotes in Queensland
Two battery quotes can look similar at the bottom of the page and describe quite different systems. One may include backup wiring and switchboard work. Another may leave them as extra costs. The cheapest number is not enough to make the decision.
The Queensland Government recommends seeking two or three quotes and comparing the equipment, price and warranties. You can seek quotes independently. Battery Match QLD introduces one suitable installer at a time where possible; you remain free to compare that proposal with any others you obtain.
First, check what each system actually is
Put the quotes side by side and find the battery brand and model, usable storage capacity in kWh, inverter brand and model, and continuous power output in kW. Check whether one proposal includes a new hybrid inverter while another keeps the existing solar inverter and adds a battery inverter. These are different designs and can have different costs.
If the battery sizes differ, ask each installer why that size suits your electricity use and solar exports. Our Queensland battery sizing guide explains the main questions.
Compare the same job, not just the battery
Does the price include installation, connection paperwork, any switchboard upgrades, monitoring setup and backup circuits? Is your preferred battery location suitable? If the installer has not checked the property, ask which parts of the price are provisional.
If you want power during an outage, get the backup scope in writing. Ask which circuits will work and whether the solar panels can continue charging the battery during a blackout. These features depend on the chosen design.
Check the rebate line
Ask for the price before and after any federal battery discount and how the discount is being applied. A headline percentage does not tell you the exact reduction on your installation. Eligibility, usable capacity and the applicable certificate value affect the result. Read our Queensland home battery rebate guide for the current scheme.
Read the warranty terms
Look for separate details on the battery, inverter and installation workmanship. Ask what each warranty covers, whether there are conditions on usage, and who you contact if something fails. A long warranty in a headline is less useful if the written terms are unclear.
Ask for an honest savings estimate
The estimate should show its assumptions: your electricity use, solar exports, import price, feed-in tariff and expected battery cycling. A battery cannot save the same amount for every home. If someone promises a fixed payback without looking at your usage, ask them to show the calculation. You can also read our guide to home battery payback in Queensland.
A short comparison checklist
Same or different usable battery capacity?
Same or different inverter work?
Backup included, and which circuits?
All electrical and connection work included?
Federal discount shown clearly?
Product and installation warranties in writing?
Savings estimate based on your home?
Final installed price, including GST, clear?
If a quote is hard to understand, send us the basics of your home and what you want the battery to do. Battery Match QLD can help you prepare a Battery Fit Check and, where possible, connect you with one suitable local installer for a formal quote. Our service is free for homeowners, and you decide whether to proceed. Start your Battery Match.
The installer is responsible for technical advice, system design and the formal quote. Battery Match QLD provides general information and introductions.
